What a lovely guy. So helpful when my elderly friend's lock failed on her front door. He came out very quickly and replaced the lock, adding some tweaks to enable her to open the door with limited mobility to her hands. Would definitely recommend.

Repair/replace conservatory patio door lock mechanism. Turned up at the time he said. Very knowledgeable and good at his job. Gave a quote over the phone prior to attending thinking the complete lock mechanism would need replacing however once he attended he managed to repair the lock and reduced the quote accordingly. Top man cannot recommend highly enough.

Frequently Asked Questions About Locksmith Services in Sywell

Locksmith questions
How much does a locksmith cost in Sywell?

The cost depends on the type of work required, the lock involved and whether replacement parts are needed. The Parish Locksmith provides transparent pricing with no call-out fees, explaining the available options and costs before starting work. Wherever practical, I recommend repairing existing locks rather than replacing them unnecessarily.

Can a locksmith open my door without damaging the lock?

In many cases, yes. I use non-destructive entry techniques wherever possible, depending on the lock type and the reason the door cannot be opened. However, some faults may require drilling or replacing components. I’ll assess the situation and explain the most appropriate method before proceeding.

Is it better to repair a faulty lock or replace it?

That depends on the condition of the lock and the nature of the fault. Problems caused by misalignment, worn components or minor mechanical failures can often be repaired. However, severely damaged, unreliable or unsuitable locks may need replacing. I assess each lock individually and recommend the most practical and cost-effective solution.

Why does my uPVC door handle lift but the door won’t lock?

This can indicate a faulty gearbox, a misaligned door, worn locking points or a problem with the euro cylinder. The cause isn’t always the complete multipoint mechanism. I inspect the individual components to identify the fault and determine whether adjustment, repair or replacement is necessary to restore reliable locking.

Should I change the locks when moving into a new property?

Changing the locks is generally advisable because you cannot be certain how many keys are still in circulation. Previous owners, tenants or contractors may retain copies. I can assess your existing locks and recommend suitable replacements, including anti-snap cylinders and British Standard locks, where appropriate for your doors.

Can a dropped or misaligned door be repaired without replacing it?

Yes, many dropped or misaligned doors can be repaired without replacing the door itself. Common causes include worn hinges, incorrect adjustments and movement within the door assembly. I inspect the door, frame and locking points before carrying out suitable hinge adjustments, realignment or component repairs to restore smooth operation.

What types of locks are recommended for home insurance requirements?

Insurance requirements vary between providers and policies. Commonly recognised standards include BS 3621 for suitable mortice locks and TS 007-rated cylinders for certain uPVC and composite doors. I can inspect your existing locks and recommend appropriate security upgrades, but you should always check your insurer’s specific requirements.

Can you repair commercial door locks and emergency exit hardware?

Yes. The Parish Locksmith provides commercial locksmith services in Sywell, including repairs and replacements for office locks, commercial locking mechanisms and panic and emergency exit hardware. I can assess faulty components, restore reliable operation and recommend suitable replacements where required, taking account of the door’s intended use and safety requirements.

Do you offer emergency locksmith services in Sywell outside normal working hours?

Yes. The Parish Locksmith provides 24/7 emergency locksmith assistance in Sywell, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Whether you’re locked out, dealing with lost keys or unable to secure your property because of a faulty lock, you can call 01933 588118 for assistance, with no call-out fees.
